Road station

Gensis

Lesnica na Jadru

Gensis was a station on the road south from Sirmium towards the mines of the Drina, placed south of Lesnica on the river Jadar in Serbia. The name appears nowhere else, and older research took it for a slip for Gerdis: a place called Gerd... is named on an altar fragment found at Skelani on the Drina, set up by a local magistrate. Perhaps it was the administrative village of the mining district on the lower Drina. The map sets Gensis thirty Roman miles from Sirmium and fifteen from Ad Drinum.
