Road station
Spaneta
Bačinci?
Spaneta, a station in Lower Pannonia, probably at Bačinci in Serbia, has lost its own name on the map. The stop before it reads as one word, Ulmospaneta, although the pilgrim from Bordeaux lists Ulmo and Spaneta as two separate stations and calls Spaneta a mutatio, a place to change horses. Perhaps a copyist ran the two names together to make room for the start of the province label Inferior; a distance figure was lost in the process, and the stop where Spaneta belongs was left without a name. The name itself points to a Celtic settlement.
