Germanico

Kösching

Germanico is Germanicum, the fort at Kösching near Ingolstadt in Bavaria, on the frontier road through Raetia. Inscriptions name a cavalry regiment, the First Flavian Ala, and a cohort raised in Commagene, on the Euphrates in distant Syria, both stationed here. A little to the south lay another garrison, Vallatum, known from the Roman register of routes and a late Roman list of garrisons. On the map Germanicum lies nine Roman miles from Celeusum.
