Gesocribate
Brest
Gesocribate is where the road ends, in the far north-west of Gaul, in the land of the Osismii. The route comes from Angers by Nantes, Vannes and Carhaix and is usually thought to end at Brest, where Roman walls survive at the castle. The exact spot on the coast is still debated, and at the heart of the argument lies the unusually long last stretch from Carhaix, forty-five. An older view read the name as Gesobrivate and linked it with the harbour Brivates named by the Greek geographer Ptolemy.
