Road station

Gravinum

Grainville

Gravinum was a station on the road from Boulogne to Lillebonne near the Channel coast of Normandy, probably at Grainville near Goderville, though a modern atlas leaves it unlocated. It may be the Grannona that a late Roman list of garrisons places on the Saxon Shore, the chain of coastal defences against sea raiders. Others have linked it with the harbour of Caracotinum near Harfleur. Ruins of an old town between Braquemont and Grainecourt, towards Dieppe, lie too far away to fit.
