Eccobriga
? Kalekişla östl. von Sulakyurt ?
Eccobriga is a Celtic name: briga means a fortified height, and the first part may come from a personal name linked to the sharp edge of a sword. It was the chief place of the north-western district of the Trocmi, a Galatian tribe, and the largest fortress of eastern Galatia, probably at Kalekışla east of Sulakyurt: a steep castle hill above a wide walled lower town, lived in from the early Bronze Age into Byzantine times. In reality it lay east of the Halys, though the map draws the river well beyond it.
