Eburomagi

Bram

Eburomagi is Bram, between Toulouse and Carcassonne; the Celtic name means the field of Eburos. The pilgrim from Bordeaux knows it as the village of Hebromagus, with a change of horses at Cedros before Carcassonne. Some have linked it with the Hebromagus mentioned by the poets Ausonius and Paulinus, but older research rejected that. Holes and tears in the parchment make the figure onward to Carcassonne uncertain: it is fourteen or seventeen, and fourteen, which the pilgrim also gives, is the more likely.
