Ebirno
Nevers
Ebirno is Nevers on the Loire, and the map's form is a slip for Nevirno, the name in the Roman register of routes. Before that the town was Noviodunum of the Aedui, well placed on the banks of the Loire. Caesar kept all the Gallic hostages there, with grain, the army's money and his own baggage. When the Aedui joined the revolt of Vercingetorix in 52 BC, they killed the garrison and the traders and burned the town. The list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles the name as In ibernis.
