Duronum

Etroeungt oder Avesnes (Miller) · Etroeungt (Barrington)

Dvronvm is Duronum, the first station on the road from Bavay, capital of the Nervii, to Reims, most likely at Étrœungt in the north of France, though Avesnes nearby has also been proposed. The Roman register of routes knows it under the same name. The name begins with the Celtic duro, found in many town names of Gaul. On the map the next stretch, to Vironum, has no marked start.
