Road station

Duretie

Rieux, Cm. Fégréac

Listen to the story

Duretie was a station between Nantes and Vannes, placed at Rieux on the Vilaine, near Fégréac. It is known only from the map, and a modern atlas still adds a question mark to the name. Some older scholars wanted to read it as Durerie and link it with the river Herius. The identification with Rieux was supported by a study of the Roman roads of Brittany in 1843. On the map, the start of the stretch from Duretie towards Nantes is not marked.
