Road station

Sipia

Visseiche · Seiche

Sipia was a road station between Rennes and Angers. Its name has long been linked with the river Seiche, a tributary of the Vilaine, and the usual answer places it at Visseiche near La Guerche, whose name seems to keep the river's. Other suggestions were Sobenières and Châteaugiron. No other ancient source names Sipia, so the map is its only witness. The road onward is drawn as two stretches, which the copyist drew separately and then failed to join, and it crosses a river on the way.
