Sinna

near Lake of Scodra

Sinna is the Cinna of a Roman register of routes and the Chinna of the Greek geographer Ptolemy, the first station north of Scodra, today Shkodër, on the road along the eastern shore of Lake Shkodër. Older research looked for it at Hum, in the land of the Hoti, where Roman remains were reported, or further south near Koplik in Albania. The map's S for C may be a slip of the ear, from a copyist who heard the name spoken with a soft c.
