Sitillia

(road station, possibly Thiel-sur-Acolin)

Sitillia is perhaps Thiel-sur-Acolin, near Montbeugny; other suggestions were Saligny and Grand-Fleury-sur-Loire. Older research wondered whether it was the Gallic village called Sicilia where, according to the late Roman imperial biographies, the emperor Alexander Severus was murdered in 235, as he set out against the Germans. On the map a link branches off from Sitillia towards the road from Lyon to Augustonemetum, today Clermont-Ferrand, but without a distance figure, and the road onward to Ariolica crosses a river.
