Siguese

Hr. Bahara (Miller) · (Kebouch, 14 miles ENE Sicca) (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Siguese was a station on the road from Carthage to Sicca Veneria in Tunisia, perhaps at Henchir Bahara. It may be the mine called Siguense, from which Christians condemned to forced labour wrote to Bishop Cyprian of Carthage in 258 AD, although no ore has been found in the area. The map puts it thirty Roman miles from Sicca, probably a figure confused with the next one; twelve would fit better.
