Eburoduno
Yverdon-les-Bains
Ebvrodvno is Eburodunum, today Yverdon-les-Bains in Switzerland, at the end of Lake Neuchâtel. Its sulphur spring was already used before the Romans and is still in use today. The Roman village lay some nine hundred metres back from today's lakeshore, and in late antiquity it was turned into a walled fort. Its people honoured Mars Caturix, a Celtic war god, as well as Mercury, Apollo and Minerva. Milestones from the country around count the distance to Avenches, in Roman miles on some and in Gallic leagues on others.
