Mirovo bei Ihtiman · Ichtiman
Egirca, at Mirovo near today's Ihtiman, stood on the great military road from Serdica to Philippopolis, between Sarto and the pass called Trajan's Gate. A tragedy ascribed to Seneca speaks of snowy Helice in wild Thrace, and the route lists call it Helice and Hilica; the name may come from a word for wet. An inscription found at Ihtiman records that Nero had inns and lodging houses built along the military roads of Thrace. Late Roman walls two to three metres thick enclosed the site; statue bases from 244 to 249, one for the empress Marcia Otacilia, and a milestone of about 320 have come to light.
