Aspona
Sarıhüyük, ehemals Şedithüyük ?
Aspona, a Celtic name, lay on a fortified mound north of Lake Tatta, now Tuz Gölü, probably at Sarıhüyük in central Turkey, where people had lived since prehistoric times. It was a border town between Galatia and Cappadocia and a station on the Pilgrims' Road, not far from the river Halys. The historian Ammianus calls it a small municipality of Galatia, where the emperor Jovian halted on his march back from Antioch in 363. As a bishop's seat under Ancyra it chose Palladius, author of the Lausiac History, in 417. Roman and Byzantine stones are built into the village.
