Comaru

Sidi Abd el-Rahman? (Barrington)

Comaru stood near the coast of north-western Egypt, probably at Sidi Abd el-Rahman, on the road that ran from Alexandria to Cyrene, forty-nine Roman miles out from Alexandria. The map sets it fifteen miles from Patrico and as many again from Monogami, and a close look at the parchment itself has confirmed that second figure. One suggestion links it with a place Ptolemy calls Kobiou, though he puts that much further inland. The Ravenna list writes Comaron.
