Comeli Magus
bei Cassino Po? [4 · Pleiades]
Listen to the story
Comeli Magus, a Celtic name ending in magus, a field or market place, lay near Broni in the hills south of the Po, on the road from Iria, now Voghera, to Piacenza. On the map the route is spelled out in words, from Iria to Comelio Magus sixteen miles, and then simply stops: the last stretch to Piacenza, which a Roman register of routes puts at twenty-five miles, is missing, with no trace of where the line was lost.
