Comagenis
Tulln am Wienerwald
Listen to the story
Comagenis is Tulln on the Danube in Lower Austria, a Roman fort whose garrison of mounted troops appears in a late Roman list of garrisons. Saint Severinus came here, as his biographer Eugippius tells, and the town appears again in the medieval Song of the Nibelungs. The only inscribed milestone on the road from Vindobona to Ovilava was found here; it counts twenty-two Roman miles, about thirty-three kilometres, to Cetium, from where the miles were reckoned.
