Tamiso

Politiko

Tamiso is Tamassos, at Politiko in the middle of Cyprus, not far from Mount Olympus; Strabo and Ptolemy know it, and the poet Statius calls it Tamesa. The map sets it twenty-nine Roman miles from Soloae and twenty-four from Thremitus. A second figure of twenty-nine probably belongs to a road on to Cito, but its line is missing, perhaps because it would have been too awkward to draw neatly.
