Road station

Tanomia

La Cheppe

Tanomia is a copyist's slip: the Roman register of routes shows that the station was Fanum Minervae, the temple of Minerva, and a scribe misread the shortened Fano Min as Tanomia. It lay on the road from Reims towards Metz, most likely at La Cheppe or close by, where several places carry the name du Temple. Other proposals were Suippes, Vadenay and even Vitry-le-François. On the map, the start of the stretch onward to Caturices is not marked.
