Tabellaria
an der Mündung des Mignone [3 · 6] · zw. Marta und Forum Aurelii [5]
Listen to the story
Tabellaria, a station on the Via Aurelia near the mouth of the river Mignone, has a name that points to travel itself: tabellarii were the letter carriers of the Roman state post, and a tabella could also be a signboard by the road. Roman graves on a small hill nearby may mark the spot. On the map it seems to have changed places with its neighbour Graviscae, for the list of places compiled in Ravenna gives the two in the opposite order.
