Listen to the story
Svuaddurusi Presidium, the garrison post of Svuaddurusi, was a military station in Numidia, twelve Roman miles, about eighteen kilometres, from Zarai, today Zraia in Algeria. The first word is a local name found nowhere else; the second, the Latin praesidium, is abbreviated on the map with a stroke over the p. Older research placed it at Gunekene or Sidi Khalef, where Roman inscriptions have come to light. On the map the stretch onward is drawn as two.
