Pordonnium

? Adıyaman, ehem. Hisn-i Mansur

Pordonnium probably lay at Adıyaman in ancient Commagene, a site lived in without a break since the Old Stone Age. In the Middle Ages it was a middling town called Hisn-i Mansur, and under that name it appears as a road station once more in the routes of the Arab geographers Ibn Hauqal and Idrisi. Its old citadel on a hill, later a church, has lain destroyed since the First World War and left no trace, but many ancient finds from the area are shown in the archaeological museum of Adıyaman. The Ravenna list writes the name Pordonion, with a Greek ending.
