Orbita

Bordj-el-Assa-el-Jeriba (Barrington)

Orbita, which the geographer Ptolemy also names, was a town on the coast road by the Lesser Syrtis, just north of Hadrumetum, now Sousse in Tunisia. Its exact site is disputed, with Bordj el Assa el Jeriba among several candidates. At one of them, Henchir Biniana, a Roman temple once held an altar and a statue of Liber Pater; only its marble dedication survives, now kept in Sousse. The twenty-two miles the map gives on to Ad Horrea would fit better on another stretch, from Hadrito to Horrea.
