Road station

Ora

Ora is identified with a town in the Swat region that Alexander the Great took on his Indian campaign. After defeating the Assacenians he left officers to besiege it while another siege, at Bazira, dragged on; when he heard that Indians sent by Abisares were entrenching themselves at Ora, he marched there in person, took the town after a short siege, captured its elephants and left a garrison in the fort. The site may be Udegram in the upper Swat valley, although older research placed the station at Uch.
