Macrontecos

? Kisildzadere · Kızılcaterzi (Miller)

Macrontecos is a garbled Greek Makron Teichos, the Long Wall, a form found only here. The wall closed the Thracian Chersonese, today's Gallipoli peninsula, at its narrowest point between the Gulf of Saros and the Hellespont; Miltiades the Elder first built it in the 6th century BC to keep out raiders. The Spartan Dercylidas renewed it, and after Gainas forced his way across in AD 400, Justinian rebuilt it thoroughly. A town grew up by it and took its name. It is not the wall of Anastasius further east.
