Road station
Larissa
Larissa and the next stop, In Cilissa, may once have been a single entry: the second name looks like a garbled 'in Cilicia', added to tell this town apart from the many others of the same name, and no bend in the road line separates the two. If so, the place lay near the border of Cilicia, perhaps where the road crossed the Karmalas river, now the Zamantı Su. The Ravenna list names the station in the same company, and later the Byzantine historian Michael Attaleiates tells how the emperor came to Caesarea and from there moved on to this town.
