Road station
Larissa
Shaizar
Larissa had two names: ancient writers such as Pliny, Appian and Ptolemy use this one, but its own inhabitants called it Sizara, and the place on the Orontes is Shaizar in Syria. The map sets it fourteen Roman miles from Epifania and sixteen from Apamea, and on the way to Apamea the road crosses a river. Where that stretch begins, the usual mark in the road line is missing.
