S Raphaneai (Barrington)

Demetri stands for a Demetrias that is sought south of Raphanea in Syria, though its exact site is unknown. Coins of the Demetrieans of the holy city may belong to it, although they have also been given to the Demetrias in Thessaly. On the map, the twelve Roman miles from Ortosias seem to belong to another road, and the real distance was probably twenty-two. Fourteen more lead on to Carion.
