Road station
Demetriu
in der Gegend von Hendek
Demetriu has lost the small stroke over its last letter that would make it Demetrium; the Ravenna list writes Dimitrio. It was a station in Bithynia on the road from Nicomedia to Claudiopolis, between the Sangarius crossing and Prusias, the last stop before the province of Honorias, on a stretch that Roman armies often used. It lay somewhere near today's Hendek, where carved stones and column fragments were seen in the 19th century. The thirteen miles on to Dusepro Solympum are far too few; a station has probably dropped out.
