Road station
Mesyla
Mesyla is known from nowhere else, and its site cannot be fixed. Its story lies in the figure for the stretch on to Comana Pontica: the downstroke of the large red P in the province name Cappadocia runs right across it and hides its last stroke, so it seems to read fifteen, yet under magnification a black I shows through, making it sixteen. That small overlap reveals the order of work, for the province name was added only after the roads had been drawn. One suggestion linked the station with Verisa, a bishop's seat in Pontus, but the two names are hard to reconcile.
