Eraciza
Tell el Hadj
Eraciza lay at Tell el Hadj near the Euphrates, on the southern edge of the Syrian district of Cyrrhestica. The geographer Ptolemy calls it Eragiza, and in the Byzantine list of cities by Hierocles a garbled word has been read as the estate of the Eragizeni. On the map the road divides here: one branch runs eighteen Roman miles to Apammari, while the line towards Barbalissus, sixteen miles away, is not drawn at all; only the fork and the figure betray it.
