Andarado
Tartous
Andarado is Antaradus, now Tartus in Syria, which began as the mainland harbour of Aradus, a town on a small island opposite that the pilgrim from Bordeaux describes as a city in the sea. In 346 the place was rebuilt and renamed Constantia, and in the Middle Ages, as Tortosa, it played an important part in the Crusades. Most of its ruins date from those times, and an extensive cemetery lies south of the town. On the map the stretch on to Balneis is drawn as two.
