Anasamo
Mussalievo (Bulgaria)
Anasamo was a Roman fort on the Danube in Lower Moesia, where the river Osam flows into it, opposite the mouth of the Olt, near today's Mussalievo, not far from Nikopol; its ruins are still called Osem-kalessi. The name means at the Asamus, the old name of the Osam. The map puts it nine miles east of Utus, but the seventeen it gives onward to Securispa cannot fit; perhaps seven was meant. The Greek historian Priscus mentions the town in 447, and it still appears in Byzantine accounts of 596 and 602.
