Amatria
bei Ploça ?
Amatria is the map's miscopied Amantia, a hill town at Ploça in Albania whose people claimed descent from the Abantes of Euboea, Homeric warriors said to have settled here on their way home from Troy. It struck its own coins in the Hellenistic age, flourished under the Antonine emperors, and sent a bishop to the council of Serdica in 347. Walls of the fourth century BC, rebuilt in the sixth century AD, a temple of Aphrodite and a cemetery have been excavated. The map's fifty-five miles on to Hadrianopolis are a long stage.
