Road station
Altessera
Laras o. Zuarin
Altessera, a name known only from this map, was a station in the Roman province of Africa, in present-day Tunisia, on the road from Althiburos to Assuras. Older research could not settle its site, suggesting either Lares, where the distance would fit, or Zouarine, a later bishop's seat. The map sets Altessera sixteen Roman miles from Althiburos, a figure that seems to be written twice, and ten from Assuras.
