Road station

Alerta

Ardentes

Alerta was a station of the Bituriges Cubi on the road from Bourges towards Argenton and Bordeaux. It is usually placed at Saint-Vincent-d'Ardentes, with Étrechet and Châteauroux as other suggestions. Older research suspected that the name was a corruption linked to Andra, the old name of the Indre found in the founding charter of the abbey of Déols. Some older copies read Alerca. On the map, the start of the stretch to Bourges is not marked, unless the break in the line where it crosses a river was meant to do that.
