Annamatia

Baracspuszta

Listen to the story

Annamatia was a Danube fort in Pannonia, at Baracspuszta in Hungary, founded, as its name shows, by Celts: local inscriptions name people called Adnamatus. A Roman register of routes places it midway between Intercisa and Lussonium, and a late Roman list of garrisons stations Dalmatian horsemen here. Milestones nearby count sixty-three and sixty-six Roman miles from Aquincum. The map gives twenty-two miles from Vetus Salina, passing over Intercisa, and fifteen on to Lussonium.
