Antiana
Popovac?
Listen to the story
Antiana was a fort on the Danube road from Aquincum to Mursa, probably at Popovac in the Baranja region of Croatia; older research also pointed to Batina, on a spur of hills reaching out to the river. Here a road branched off to Sopianae, the Roman Pécs, and on to Sabaria and Vindobona. A milestone found near Batina counts one hundred and thirty-seven Roman miles from Aquincum, agreeing neatly with the stone marked one hundred and thirteen at Lugio.
