Vetisso
? ca. 1,5 km nw von Beşikli ?
Vetisso lay where Phrygia met Galatia, on the southern edge of the lands of the Tolistobogii, a Galatian tribe; the geographer Ptolemy calls it Ouetiston. In Roman times the people of the district formed a community of their own, the demos of the Vetisseis, and many inscriptions survive from the area. The likeliest site is a rocky hill near Beşikli, its top strewn with pottery and rubble, with a large cistern cut into the rock on its western side. The map's twenty miles on to Egdava were probably miscopied from thirty, about forty-four kilometres.
