Road station

Vereuso

Geruşla, 2 Meilen südl. v. Kemalye, ehem. Eğin oder ? Çanakçı ?

Vereuso is the better reading of this name, rather than Vereisso, as close inspection shows, though the second stroke of the u is drawn a little long. The station lay in the Antitaurus on the frontier road of Lesser Armenia. One candidate is Çanakçı, at twelve hundred and eighty metres the highest village on the southern loop of these mountains, with good springs a hundred metres from where the military road crossed the upper Çit; landslides have since destroyed parts of the Roman road. Another is Geruşla near Kemaliye, with remains of an aqueduct.
