Vergellis

Vercelli

Listen to the story

Vercellae, now Vercelli in Piedmont, was the chief town of the Libici, probably a Ligurian people, on the Sesia river. Its first bishop, Eusebius, made it an early centre of the church in the fourth century, yet by the time of the church father Jerome the town was half in ruins. On the map the road beyond it breaks off without a distance.
