Vennum

Volargne [6] · La Chiusa [3]

Listen to the story

Vennum, known only from this map, stood near La Chiusa or Volargne, at the last narrows of the Adige valley before it opens onto the plain of Verona. It was probably the home of the Vennii, an Alpine people who raided the lowlands together with the Camunni until the Roman general Publius Silius subdued them in 16 BC. On the map the distance to Verona is written in two pieces, a ten after the name and an eight below it.

Fully based on scientific information from TP-Online (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
