Sarnis

Serravalle d’Adige [3] · [6]

Listen to the story

Sarnis, known only from this map, was a rest stop on the road from Verona up the Adige valley to Trento, at Serravalle near Ala, where a brook called the Sorne still echoes the name. Nearby, a landslide is said to have buried a town in 883, and the rockfall above the Adige is the one Dante compared to the steep descent in his Inferno.
