Santico VIIII

Listen to the story

The last of three nameless hooks on the road from Ad Silanos to Virunum comes just before Tasinemeti, the Roman Velden. It probably stands for Santicum, the Roman Villach, which a Roman register of routes places nine or ten Roman miles from Tasinemeti. That register counts one hundred and nine miles for this stretch over the Pontebba pass, remarkably close to what a straight line between Ad Silanos and Tasinemeti suggests.
