Sar[/n]tali
Sarrant? (Barrington)
Sartali is the older reading of a name now almost lost: only its last three letters can still be read on the parchment. Older copies gave Sartali, others Sarnali, and one careful study of the original argued for Sarrali, with a doubled r. It was a halt on the road from Toulouse to Lectoure, usually placed at Sarrant, though one older view preferred the area of Mauvezin. The name may be Iberian rather than Celtic. On the map, the start of the stretch to Lectoure is not marked.
