Brixia

Brescia

Listen to the story

Brixia, now Brescia, was the chief town of the Gallic Cenomani, and the poet Catullus called it the mother of Verona. Augustus made it a colony, and a temple of the Corinthian order, excavated in 1822 and rebuilt in its day under Vespasian, became the home of the town's museum. Attila plundered Brixia in 452 AD.
