Brioux
Brigiosum is Brioux, the second station on the road from Poitiers to Bordeaux. The Roman register of routes skips it and runs straight from Aulnay to Rom, so the map alone preserves this halt. The name lived on: a Merovingian coin reads Briosso vico, the village of Brioux, and the life of Saint Junianus speaks of the district of Briossium among the Pictones. The coin and the medieval name together make the identification with Brioux secure.
